Quail Meat

$20/pound processed

Our goal for all out products is to offer a superior product for a better price than others in our area. This is how we handle our quail meat sales as well! We sell our organic fed large processed skinned birds that live outside and are processed onsite with care, cleanliness and respect to the animals. I have been processing quail since I was about 7 years old. I started quail hunting and processing with my grandfather on the family ranch near Marfa Texas. Those were the much smaller native Scaled, also called Blue, quail. Back then I was using a dull Swiss Army knife in which ever cattle trough or water tank was closest. Now I’m using poultry sheers and sitting at a sink indoors and boy is it easier and better! We also find the total lack of lead pellets in our product a big improvement!

Like most other quail meat offerings ours are skinned rather than plucked. As most of our quail are much bigger (double to the triple size) of what most quail are. Most of ours range from 5-9 oz processed weight. For maximum freshness and the best product that lasts the longest time we immediately vacuum seal, weigh and label with date and weight.

A quick web search will reveal this: “vacuum-sealed frozen meat can be stored for 1 to 3 years in the freezer. Non-vacuum-sealed frozen meat typically lasts 1 to 12 months.” We then freeze all our meat and have it stored in a freezer that has multiple smart temperature sensors to ensure they stay well below freezing at all times. If the temp even begins to dip our team get alerts on our phones to address the issue right away and if needed move product to an alternate freezer of which there are many. We also have 2 backup power sources for our freezers to ensure product remains properly stored at all times. We offer it for $20/lb.

We price by the pound rather than the bird as most selling quail meat by the bird offer tiny birds and that means far less food per bird. Many of our customers ask the price per bird, that of course ranges based on each bird, however in general each processed bird weighs 5-9 ounces and thus each bird processed and ready to cook is about $6.50-$8.50. Most bags are 5-7 birds with the goal of being a good amount for a family to eat with other items. If you want a large order let us know so we can have it ready for you! The meat goes fast, so you may also wish to pre purchase to reserve your order.

By special order we can offer processed quail that have not been frozen yet. If interested in this option contact us directly via the contact information below.

For those that are curious how our pricing compares to other quail meat available… Many of our customers were previously purchasing quail meat from a local Texas meat market in Georgetown. They sell birds that are only 2-3 ounces for $25-$27 per pound. Those birds eat feed that is full of chemicals, genetically modified ingredients and pesticide fed birds that are mostly bones and have very little meat to eat. Why pay more for an inferior product? Just don’t. Give ours a try and we’re sure you’ll see how much better it is and you’ll also know you are eating a higher quality that is better for you.

Below you can see how the meat is packaged and frozen as well as some photos of just a few of the countless ways it can be prepared. The below photos are of meals cooked by us and our customers. We love hearing about all the great ways they cook quail eggs and meat.
